The bogacare paw balm protects and cares for stressed dog paws with calendula and rosemary - for supple, resistant pads all year round.

Dogs' paws are put under a lot of strain every day, both in winter (ice, road salt) and in summer (grit, tarmac). The result for the dog is dry, brittle and cracked pads.
bogacare® PFOTEN-BALSAM with calendula and rosemary cares for the paws, keeps them supple, has a soothing and regenerating effect.

Application:

bogacare® Paw BALM Apply to and between the pads before going for a walk and massage in well.
Apply several times a day as required.

KNOWLEDGE- Skin and coat care
Skin and coat care for dogs is a lot more demanding than you might think. The anatomical differences between individual dog breeds are huge - and the same applies to skin and coat. If you compare a Newfoundland with a Chihuahua, for example, the differences are quickly apparent. The Newfoundland: large with relatively thick skin, long top coat and dense undercoat. The Chihuahua: small with rather thin and sensitive skin, fine outer coat and almost no undercoat.

The hair and coat structure of our dogs
A dog's coat basically consists of outer coat and undercoat (woolly coat). The thicker and coarser outer coat protects against dirt and moisture, while the woollen coat is mainly used to regulate heat. Depending on the breed, the characteristics vary greatly. We can categorise our dogs into 3 main groups, each of which has its own characteristics and special requirements:

1. SHORT HAIR/ GLATTH HAIR
Shorthair has a very short lifespan of approx. 6 - 12 weeks, sheds and is replaced by new hair. Example: Boxer, Viszla, Doberman, etc.

2.dRAHTHAAR / RAUHAAR
Several layers of topcoat and underneath a layer of relatively short undercoat. E.g. Jack Russell, Wirehaired Dachshund, Schnauzer, Airedale Terrier, etc.

3. LONGHAIR / STOCKHAIR
Particularly dense undercoat beneath the topcoat. These animals undergo a shedding process lasting several weeks in spring and autumn. E.g. shepherd dogs, sled dogs, Bearded Collies, Tibetan Terriers, etc.

Although the structure of skin and hair is very similar in humans and dogs, dogs still have very specific requirements when it comes to grooming. There are even important differences between the various dog breeds.
