The first choice for grooming training!

Training & further education dog groomer

Since 2008, the PERRO Dog Training Centre, under the direction of Mrs Evelyne Bischof, has been offering professional and well-founded training for prospective independent groomers. Another increasingly important field of activity is grooming in the veterinary sector. The special requirements for this are dealt with competently in the training programme. Theory modules now also available ONLINE!

What can participants expect?

Top instructors impart practice-orientated specialist knowledge in small groups of 1 to max. 3 people. The small number of trainees ensures an intensive exchange and practice-orientated teaching of the course content.

In 108 hours, participants learn, among other things, the correct grooming and blow-drying of the different coat types and lengths as well as the correct cutting and trimming in the salon and show areas. The training is FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) compliant for pedigree dogs.

What requirements do I need?

A basic understanding of how to handle dogs and an interest in working with dogs is a good basis for starting the training programme. A certain physical constitution is also required to be able to carry out the job.

In order to get a good and realistic insight into the work before starting the course, we offer interested parties a taster day in a salon. After successfully completing the trial working day, nothing stands in the way of training!

An apprenticeship with a chance of success?

The large number of self-employed, successful dog groomers from our training programme are proof that this training provides the perfect foundation for a secure self-employment. A look at the statistics also underpins the future prospects of this profession:

According to statista.at, there were around 612,000 dogs in Austria in 2010; in 2021, there were already an impressive 225,000 more animals at 837,000. And there is currently no sign of a trend reversal.

What advantages do graduates have?

In addition to the extremely practical training, there are further advantages to the PERRO Training Centre.

Participants in this training programme receive discounted purchasing conditions for hardware and equipment for their own salon. PERRO is a leading supplier of salon equipment and also offers an extensive range of accessories with top brand products from the care sector. This results in an unbeatably attractive overall price for your start in self-employment as a dog salon operator.

In addition, together with our experts and product specialists, we are of course always on hand to help and advise graduates even after they have successfully completed their training.

Further links and information

The WKO has produced a guide to the training content required for the specialised field of animal beauty care. This provides a good overview for those interested. By the way: The training at the PERRO Training Centre is a comprehensive and practice-oriented training course that goes far beyond the recommended content of the WKO.

Is there any financial support or funding for this training?

If certain requirements are met, training at the PERRO Dog Training Centre could be subsidised by the AMS and the WKO. For example, if it is a business start-up. Funding for the initial equipment of a salon is also possible.

Our tip: Arrange a counselling appointment with the AMS and/or WKO before starting your training to find out about all the support options.
