cdVet ZeckEx SpotOn for dogs combines high-quality skin care with an animal-specific odour masking effect to deter ticks and other pests. The concentrated oil formula is applied drop by drop directly to the skin and temporarily alters your dog’s natural scent. This is designed to make him less attractive to ticks, fleas, mites and mosquitoes. This economical spot-on application is a practical alternative for dogs where spraying the coat over a large area is not desirable. The grooming oil can be easily incorporated into your daily routine, particularly during tick season.

Which dogs is ZeckEx SpotOn suitable for?

The grooming oil can be used on dogs and, according to the manufacturer, also on puppies from 3 months of age. The concentrated formula is suitable for different coat types and is applied to just a few selected areas of the skin. Of course, ZeckEx SpotOn does not guarantee complete protection against ticks or other parasites. You should therefore continue to check your dog thoroughly for ticks after every time they’ve been outdoors.

What are the key ingredients in the grooming oil? 

Cold-pressed organic black cumin oil, organic coconut oil and jojoba oil form the nourishing basis of the formula. The oils spread easily over the skin and help to keep it supple. Neem oil and essential oils of geranium, lavender and manuka give the spot-on its characteristic scent. This masks the dog’s natural odour and forms the basis of the odour masking described by the manufacturer.

How is cdVet ZeckEx SpotOn used?
Over a period of 3 weeks, massage 1 drop daily directly into your dog’s skin using a moistened finger. The manufacturer recommends the two ear flaps or the area between the shoulder blades and at the base of the tail as suitable application sites. After this initial application phase, 1–2 applications per week are usually sufficient. In areas with a particularly high tick population, the frequency of application can be adjusted in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations. One drop is equivalent to approximately 50 mg.

Does the care oil remain on the skin in the rain or when the dog is in the water?

According to the manufacturer’s instructions, ZeckEx SpotOn generally remains on the skin in the rain and when swimming in water. If your dog is washed with shampoo, the care oil should be reapplied afterwards.
