The hay is dried particularly gently using a warm-air biomass drying system. This preserves the natural colour and leaf richness of the grasses. The herb hay sacks are filled by hand in order to get all the tasty seeds and tender leaves into the sack. This guarantees that only the highest quality reaches the animal.

Hay is a natural product and therefore insects and pests are absolutely natural in the hay structure. This also applies to Almenland organic herbal hay.
Since 2018, the pre-packed hay has been shock-frozen in a deep-freeze cell to around minus 20 °C for at least 24 hours. This means that annoying pests such as the hay moth don't stand a chance! A residual moisture content of only approx. 10.5 to 11.5 % can be achieved through warm air drying. This means that the cell structure and ingredients are only slightly altered and not affected by deep-freezing.
