Where does the name Quetzal come from?
As the name suggests, the design of the feeding spoon is modelled on the quetzal. This green-blue iridescent bird, which is native to Central America, is also known as the bird of the gods. Its special feature is its long tail feathers, which can grow up to 60 cm long in males. The quetzal also gives its name to the Guatemalan currency.
