What does trimming mean?

Trimming refers to the removal of dead hair from the coat . The trimming knife is used for this.

Above all, dog breeds with a rough coat, such as terriers, but also schnauzers, rough-haired dachshunds and cocker spaniels are trimmed. The nature of the coat makes it more robust and water-repellent. Normal shedding no longer takes place in these breeds. The dead top coat is removed to prevent skin irritation and eczema and to stimulate coat growth. Dogs with this type of coat should be trimmed every 2-4 months.
